Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diplomas provide a route into university education for mature students aged 19+ which is an alternative to traditional A levels.
Access courses develop a students academic skills and subject knowledge which builds on your work and life experience to provide you with a strong foundation to study at university.
This course is for anyone who is interested in progressing to University to study for a degree in a Health-related profession such as Midwifery, Child Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Operating Department Practitioner, etc
The course can be studying over one year (2 days per week in college – Wed/Thur) or over 2 years (one day per week in college – Wednesday only). Please note that due to the current social distancing advice we expect to deliver this course through a mixture of in-class and online learning.
Access courses are for students aged 19+.

This course is suitable for anyone wishing to progress to university to study midwifery or nursing, or allied care professions such as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Diagnostic Radiography, ODP, Speech & Language Therapy, etc.
There are two study options: study over 2 years by attending college 1 day per week (Fridays); or the fast-track option to complete the course over one year by attending 2 days per week (Monday and Friday). In addition to college days you should expect to do a significant amount of independent study.
The course will run January 2021 – December 2021. You will be able to apply for University courses beginning at any time in 2022.
Doncaster College Access programme provide a high quality alternative to traditional A level routes into University. It is suitable for people with recent study experience but also for those returning to education after a long break. The age range of our students is typically 19 to 55.
Access programmes are developed to enable ‘adult returnees’ to build upon their past work and life experiences to increase their self confidence, self belief, academic and personal skills.
Level 3 Access courses allow mature students to progress to University courses. The Science and Health-related Professions route is suitable for anyone wishing to progress to degrees in subjects such as Dietetics, Forensic Science, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Biomedical Science, Genetics, Biochemistry, Dental Hygiene & Therapy, Radiography, Radiotherapy & Oncology, Zoology or other biology or chemistry-based degrees.
