The Learning Resource Centres provide a range of support services for distance learners that include:
YOUR COURSE ON BLACKBOARD
Your course is available online via a virtual classroom called Blackboard. Your tutor is responsible for the management of your course area and will be able to guide you to the resources you will need.
To login to Blackboard you will first of all need a computer login which distance learners will receive by email.
If you don’t know what your College username and password is, contact the LRC or your tutor.
USING THE E-LIBRARY FROM HOME
The e-Library comprises of articles, e-books, images, maps, statistics and reports.
It is a very rich source of information. Resources can be searched individually or some can be cross searched via LRC Search.
In order to access these resources from home all you need is your computer login:
- Click on the resource
- Enter your College computer login
- Wait to be redirected to the resource
Distance Learners can register for the LRCs’ postal loan service. The cost is £10 per year. For this price we will dispatch the books you need to your home address.
Once you have the books normal borrowing rules apply and you can renew them, subject to demand, by phone or via LRC Search. Books can be returned in person or by post. The return postage is borne by the student.
You can download an application form for the Postal Loan Service online or you can pick a form up in your Learning Resource Centre.
USING OTHER LIBRARIES
Generally most libraries are happy to allow reference access to their resources however it is always advisable to check in advance, and remember to take along your College ID card.
- Hull University validated courses. Students in possession of a Hull University card have full borrowing rights and access to e-resources onsite at Hull.
