Make Up Artistry student and local successful salon owner, Vanessa Dawson achieved fantastic success earlier this month at Britain’s premier beauty show, BeautyUK held at the NEC, Birmingham.
Both Vanessa and a fellow student entered the National Make Up Artist Awards student competition competing against others from all colleges within the UK.
Vanessa took 1st place in the ‘High Fashion Make Up’ category and later in the day was awarded the National ‘Overall Student Winner’ for her outstanding skills, winning a day working the celebrity red carpet alongside professional make-up artists. Industry judges, including a make-up artist on Game of Thrones discussed goals for the future and expressed a great deal of enthusiasm in her work.
Tutors Sue Cocking and Carla Wragg are delighted at their student’s success and explained, “The standard of work on the course is very high and we expect the best from our students. We love seeing their creativity and giving them opportunities to progress their skills”.
