A huge congratulations to one of our graduated Early Years students, Melissa Knowles on her ‘Setting of the Year’ win at the National Nursery Awards!
Since finishing at University Centre Doncaster Melissa told us, ‘My confidence and career has blossomed. While in my final year I studied for Early Years Professional Status through Best Practice Network, this provided me with a wealth of knowledge which has supported me in my current role as an Early Years Foundation Stage Manager, for a chain of nurseries in Leeds’.
Initially gaining employment in a nursery as an early years practitioner (EYP), she was soon promoted to the senior and EYP of the nursery. This role is where she began to apply the skills gained when studying for her degree. Melissa explains, ‘The role was fast paced and allowed me to help others, developing their pedagogical strategies and teaching children. I wanted every practitioner to have the same knowledge I had and use it in their own unique way, to develop high quality provision. I advise, support and teach others to give children the best possible start in life, using the knowledge I have gained from studying my degree and working for a supportive company’.
Back for the 14th year, the Awards organised by Nursery Management Today, the leading business publication in the nursery sector recognise the very best in the early years and nursery sector. Rewarding excellence in childcare and celebrating the very best people in the Nursery Sector.
If you’re thinking of working with young children, our Early Years courses might be for you!
