Inspiring Childcare Student up for Top Award

Posted: March 19th 2018

Doncaster College student, Patty Konfiszer, has been nominated for the Young Person category in the St Leger Homes Tenants’ Choice Awards 2018.

Patty has been a volunteer with St Leger homes since 2014, where she helped set up the first Junior TARA in Mexborough. The awards recognise excellence and achievements, by local individuals and community groups across Doncaster, who in the last 12 months have been making a positive difference in their local area.

As well as volunteering, Patty is studying Level 3 Childcare & Education at Doncaster College. She first got a flavor for the working world when she attended a work placement in a local pre-school as part of her course, gaining experience of working with children and qualified staff. She was so successful on her placement that she is now a paid employee for the same workplace.

Since then Patty has developed her skills through activities at Lifewise Centre including developing a play on how bulling affects young people. Her passion for engaging with and supporting young people has also led Patty to work towards gaining a youth qualification.

Patty has been studying with the college for 2 years, and is due to complete her course in June 2018, where she will then progress on to University to continue her studies in Early Years Education. Her end goal is to work and support families and young children.
