Floristry

Floristry is a highly valued skill that can lead to an interesting and varied career. Whether you want to work commercially in a shop, create show stopping designs for events or start up your own business, our floristry courses can help you develop your creative skills to achieve your goal.

During your studies you will get to work with a wide variety of beautiful fresh flowers direct from professional suppliers. These industry-standard materials will allow you to learn a range of techniques including hand-tied bouquets, floral arrangements, wedding flowers, funeral tributes, innovative designs, and even get involved in College-wide events such as graduation and awards ceremonies.

You will have access to a high standard of learning on your course as we are a member of the British Flower Association (BFA), meaning we have met the excellence standards needed to become a BFA recognised training provider. Floristry tutors have also been individually recognised by the BFA and by Ofsted within the last year for their outstanding contribution to the course and College.

Course Enrichment

As part of your course, you will gain valuable work experience in our very own on-site commercial flower shop, Flowers at The Hub. You will create bespoke floral designs for paying customers and get insight into working within a floristry business. We also ensure that you will be kept up-to-date with the trends and techniques as you learn about all parts of the flower business, with guest speakers from industry. You will get the opportunity to take part in visits throughout the year and attend events such as the Harrogate Flower Show and BFA FleurEx.
