Posted: April 23rd 2019

43 Students across Aviation, Cabin Crew, Travel & Tourism, Business and Performing Arts spent 5 days in New York for a residential trip.

The trip was organised to support the students’ studies at all levels by travelling through 2 major internationals airports, Manchester and JFK New York, using an international ground-breaking airline, Virgin Atlantic, and visiting some of New York’s most famous tourist attractions.

From start to finish, the trip was packed with excitement starting with a coach tour of famous TV and movie sites and a walk through Central Park, followed by an evening in Grand Central Station. Everyone enjoyed a ferry crossing to Staten Island to pass and view The Statue of Liberty and a walk to the 9/11 Memorial and museum. Performing Arts students we’re able to experience a night on Broadway at the theatre watching Jersey Boys whilst other students watched the baseball game at the Yankee Stadium. Finally, a visit to the top of The Empire State Building and shopping in the famous Macy’s store.

“It was great to see some of the students confidence improve as at first they were nervous of the hustle and bustle of a busy city and new surroundings.  Students have also commented that they enjoyed making new friends with students from other areas of the college.” – Janine Morris, Travel & Tourism Tutor.
