The 15th Early Years Conference Supporting Children’s Health and Well being took place recently at Doncaster University Centre. Over 100 delegates from local schools and nurseries attended the event which was both inspiring and thought provoking.

The key note speaker Dr Carol Harper, a specialist therapist who uses animals and nature in a therapeutic way to meet the needs of children, provided an engaging opening presentation.

Coral introduced the audience to a range of theorists who have researched the impacts animals can have on children and identified how we as humans are pre-programmed to seek relationships and how animals have a unique part to play.

Sam Goddard provided the second address and spoke about the importance of Forest School and allowing children to take risks in their play. Delegates enjoyed a series of hands on workshops that introduced news skills and ways of working with children using natural resources.

The raffle was won by Kim Simmons and raised £122; proceeds will go the local flooded communities.

Thank you to everyone that joined us and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!
