Saxon Rix, a third year student at University Centre
Doncaster, has been shortlisted for an award by the British Student
Film Festival 2012.
Saxon, 23, who is currently studying for an honours degree in
Moving Image Production, produced a music video called ‘Mindblind’.
It was entered into the music category of the competition and
is one of only three productions to be picked from thousands across
Saxon, from Askern near Doncaster, recently completed the video
as part of a course module called ‘Externally Set Brief’ in which
he produced the music video for a track produced by a fellow
University Centre Doncaster student, Jamie Shield.
"We had to put the video into a festival as part of the module.
I didn’t expect it to be shortlisted but I feel pretty good about
it," said Saxon.
Saxon got his inspiration from science fiction. "I'd used other
genres in other films this year so wanted to do something different
and the music from Jamie had a sci-fi edge to it."
The video was shot over three days, between breaks in the rain,
and Saxon used fellow students as actors.
‘Mindblind’ will be shown at screenings in London, Liverpool,
Bristol and Newcastle and judges will decide the winners in each
category at the Award ceremony in London on the 27th April.
The British Student Film Festival is a digital student film
