I have worked at Doncaster College and University Centre Doncaster since 2007, having previously worked in the health and fitness industry for around 10 years. I began my professional career as a fitness instructor with Living Well Health Clubs, having developed an interest in sports physiology and psychology a few years earlier whilst training for the London marathon. I then became self-employed as a Personal Fitness Trainer and Swimming Instructor. I later spent four years as an Exercise Physiologist with BUPA Wellness, performing a wide range of health screening tests including blood sampling and exercise stress testing. I have also worked for ProZone, the sports analysis company, covering England rugby union throughout their successful 2003 World Cup build up and tournament campaign.
I have coached various sports for many years, particularly rugby league and football. I currently coach within the talent pathway at Castleford Tigers Rugby League club. I also lead coach development sessions for local coaches.
I am currently approaching the end of my PhD studies through Leeds Beckett University under the supervision of Professor Andrew Sparkes and Professor Richard Light, both world-leading researchers and academics. My area of focus is the life-long development and practice of elite professional rugby league coaches involving six Super League & International coaches.
