Sport England’s Strategy ‘Towards an Active Nation’ has tackling inactivity at the heart of what they do. As part of this initiative Sport England is investing £5 million into projects in colleges that will support students into regular activity.
Our project at Doncaster is called ‘Tackling Inactivity’ and we are committed to helping students experience activity to feel good about their physical and mental health.

We understand there are often reasons students are not active – perhaps you used to be active at school but have stopped recently or perhaps you are new to exercise and are unsure where to start. We can support you to become active and feel the benefits of improved concentration, confidence and overall wellbeing. We can offer one to one sessions to plan how to become active and support you to take part.

Case Study – Kader
Kader used to be active but hadn’t done any physical activity for around 3 years. She was very excited to have opportunities whilst studying at Doncaster College. Kader felt she had barriers to participating including worries about her Hijab which she felt could get in the way of being able to take part. She has not let this stop her and has engaged in so many activities. Kader has particularly enjoyed basketball, badminton and cricket. The activities have taught her new skills, allowed her to experience sports she has never done before, challenge herself and has helped with her English language understanding.
“I feel fitter and more confident to take part in activities outside of lessons. When we play the games it helps de-stress me and I feel more confident. I have made new friends from other courses.”
Did you know that The Hub Gym is free to all students? Student Sessions take place each day 12 – 1pm.
We also offer timetabled sessions for different curriculum areas – ask your Tutor if you are interested in sessions for your group.
