How does Skills Boost work?
Every student on an Entry Level 3, Level 1, Level 2 & Level 3 course is taking part in Skills Boost this year, there are 10 mandatory modules for you to take part in, the rest are for you to pick and choose from.
You might be wondering why you are required to complete these modules? The UK Government has decided that young people and people in College need to develop in the areas of Spirituality, Morality, Sociability and Cultural (SMSC) to become more well rounded individuals with more transferable skills for your journey into dierent communities and the place(s) you decide you want to work!
Transferable skills are sometimes overlooked but can make you stand out from the crowd in a professional interview if you can show how you have used them. The table below shows you what skills you can expect to gain throughout the My SOLE programme.
|Skill||How do I gain this skill?|
|Maths||Working independently successfully is a great way of proving your time management skills.|
|English||Each My SOLE module has a quiz at the end which requires that you have understood the content you have studied through reading and listening.|
|Communication||My SOLE will help you to appreciate and understand how different communities function whilst also developing your own beliefs and values.|
|Equality and Diversity||Understanding different cultures is a key aim of this Learning Plan, which will help to prepare you for life in modern Britain.|
