Each of our animal care courses offers access to our onsite animal units including small mammals, herptiles and aquatic animals.
Doncaster College transport allows us to cover a range of larger species at an offsite farm, including equine, livestock and avian species. We offer additional land based skills alongside your main animal care course, for example, basic animal first aid and introduction to scientific experiments. We offer the opportunity to take part in overseas placements including South Africa game reserve management and Swedish farm placements.
Our animal care courses are offered from entry level through to level 3 extended diplomas. All courses include practical skills assessments, as well as assignment and examination assessments.
Our work placement officer assists all learners with applying for and securing external work placements which is a mandatory element on the animal based courses. You will be taught by our industry expert staff who are experienced in a wide range of backgrounds, including zoo-keeping, veterinary nursing, welfare and wildlife conservation.
We have specialised onsite teaching rooms including the onsite animal units, animal model room and scientific laboratory. We offer assistance in your personal career pathway including advice on your progression route within college up to level 3 and then in your UCAS application into higher education. We offer funded visits to local higher education facilities offering land based degrees and opportunities to speak with past learners who have been successful in their progression into higher education.
