Student testimonial – Julie Stanwix
I first attended Doncaster College in 2012 when I completed a part-time 6 week night class in floristry. I thoroughly enjoyed this and with much encouragement from my part-time tutor Jo Cullingworth I went on to achieve Levels 2 & 3. As well as classroom based learning I have undertaken work experience in a florist’s shop, entered competitions at the Harrogate Spring Flower Show and represented the College at both an Open Evening and a Floral Demonstration at the Doncaster Courts. I also helped with the floral designs for the College Graduation Ceremony.
I was lucky enough to be awarded Level 2 student of the year and also win 1st prize for my entry at the Harrogate Spring Flower Show with my ‘Woodland Wedding’ themed wrist corsage and was presented with the winners’ trophy by esteemed florist Jonathan Moseley.
I am not sure what the future holds but feel confident that the skills I have learned on both Level 2 and 3 will stand me in good stead.
